Save speed for a decision point

Extra movement matters when it gets you through a turn, out of reach, or into an interception. If you see a speed-related option in Meow Madness, read its trigger, availability, and duration on the current ability card. Do that before building a route around it; the game’s public page gives no fixed name or numbers for a speed boost.

The confirmed objective is simple. Runners need to stay untagged until the round ends; Taggers need to tag all Runners. Speed can help either side, but pressing a movement option at the wrong moment often wastes the advantage. Decide where you want to be when the effect ends, not only where you want to be immediately after pressing it.

Runner timing: spend it to leave danger

As a Runner, your goal is to preserve space. If a Tagger is already close, choose an exit route before using a burst of speed. A straight sprint down a dead end only delays the same problem. Look for a turn that breaks the Tagger’s direct line, then take the route with another possible exit. Keep the camera positioned so you can see the next junction rather than staring back throughout the chase.

If the Tagger is far away, ordinary movement can be enough. Hold a speed option for a threat that would otherwise close the gap. If the ability has a cooldown or limited uses, check that in the live UI and avoid assuming it will be ready at the next corner. Good spacing makes any burst more effective because it starts before contact becomes unavoidable.

Tagger timing: use it to finish the chase

A Tagger gains little from rushing toward a Runner who has three open exits. Read the route first. If the Runner repeatedly uses one corner, approach at an angle that shortens their escape rather than following every step behind them. A movement boost is then more useful near the moment you can close the final gap.

Do not assume the effect guarantees a tag. You still need the game’s actual contact or tag condition, and that condition should be judged by what the round displays. If you miss, avoid spending the next few seconds chasing blindly. Reposition to a junction and force a clearer choice.

When several Runners are present, pick a target whose route you can cut off. Speed used to switch targets can be sensible if it puts you ahead of the group, but an exciting burst with no plan can leave all of them farther away. Compare the distance before and after each use to learn whether your timing helps.

Practice without depending on a fixed number

Try one round focusing on the setup: identify a turn, note the distance to the other player, use the option only when the route is clear, and see where you end up. In the next round, wait a little longer or earlier and compare. Keep the role and map in mind. You do not need a published speed multiplier to learn the useful window.

An update can change ability text or timing. Recheck the selected cat or ability card after a significant update before repeating an old routine. If your current menu shows no speed boost, the same route principles still apply: a good turn, a second exit, and a planned interception matter without any special effect.

FAQ

Is speed boost an official ability name?

The official description confirms unique abilities but does not list a speed boost by name. Check your current in-game ability card for the exact option.

When should a Runner use extra speed?

Use it when a Tagger is closing and you have identified an exit that will keep distance after the effect ends.

When should a Tagger use it?

Use it near a likely interception or the last part of a chase, after you have read the Runner’s route.

How long does the effect last?

Check the current game interface. A fixed duration is not published in the official game description and can change with updates.
